Three things of note jump out after a three-HONOS Superbike race weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway: for starters, Italian Lorenzo Zanetti ended a winless drought for Ducati in AMA Superbike racing that dated back to 2010. Then there was Bobby Fong’s arrival as a bonafide MotoAmerica Superbike star with a weekend that saw him win two races and finish second in the only one he didn’t win. The 79th DAYTONA 200 presented by Comoto, America’s most historic motorcycle road race, held at the iconic Daytona International Speedway, has officially been canceled for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association and operated by the American Sportbike Racing Association, the DAYTONA 200 presented by Comoto was postponed from its original date of March 14 and rescheduled to be a part of Fall Cycle Scene on Saturday, Oct. 17.

On September 9, city commissioners in Daytona Beach and Ormond Beach, two of the many cities within Volusia County where Biketoberfest activities are held, discussed whether to issue special event permits to merchants for such activities as outdoor concerts and food and merchandise vendors. Permits in Ormond Beach were approved. In Daytona Beach commissioners felt that now was not the right time to approve special use permits.
